Lings v. Denmark (application no. 15136/20)
The applicant, Svend Lings, is a Danish national who was born in 1941 and lives in Kvrndrup (Denmark).
The applicant is a doctor and the founder of a pro-assisted suicide organisation, Physicians in Favour of Euthanasia (Lger for Aktiv Ddshjlp). The case concerns his conviction on two counts of assisted suicide, and one count of attempted assisted suicide. He asserts that he was just disseminating information about suicide.
Relying on Article 10 (freedom of expression) of the European Convention on Human Rights the applicant complains that the final domestic-court decision breached his right to free expression.
The Court will give its rulings in writing on the following cases, some of which concern issues which have already been submitted to the Court, including excessive length of proceedings.
These rulings can be consulted from the day of their delivery on the Court's online database HUDOC.
They will not appear in the press release issued on that day.
